Bloomsburg Downs Virginia Union

RICHMOND, VA - Senior Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 61-56 win over Virginia Union Wednesday night.

Bloomsburg led by one at the break 34-33, but saw the home team rally and take a six point lead, 56-50, with 3:46 to play.

The Huskies, though, got a basket from Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) and back-to-back shots from Kauczka to tie the game at 56-all with 46 seconds left to play. Then after a Virginia Union turnover, Laura Lyons (Hatfield/Pennridge) drained a three-pointer to put Bloomsburg in front, 59-56, with 14 seconds to play. After a missed three-pointer by Virginia Union, Miskinis hit two free throws to seal the victory for the Huskies.

Kauczka hit 10 of 12 from the floor and also grabbed 10 rebounds, while Miskinis scored 13 points with Lyons adding 10 for Bloomsburg.

LaToya Green scored 15 for Virginia Union (0-2), while Shanell Roberts scored 12.

Bloomsburg (2-1) will be idle till Dec. 3rd when it hosts Clarion at 5:30 p.m.
